If you’re into photography, or use a spotting scope, there’s a good chance that you’ve already got a tripod. In which case you might be able to use it for shooting too, with a suitable shooting head from Vanguard.
The U-Yoke is a universal shooting head with a 6cm maximum width and a rubber fins that help grip the forestock without damaging the rifle. It comes in two options. The original U-Yoke which has a universal 1/4” thread in the base, or the U-Yoke Arca which has an Arca compatible base attached and saving you needing to buy a second quick release plate.
This is the most versatile shooting head for each type of mount as the U-Yoke does not hold the rifle in a fixed position and it rotates 360° from the base, making it easy to adjust your aim.
The Endeavor LDA G2 Lock Down Adaptor is designed to allow you to use your rifle with an Endeavor Picatinny Rail system which is built into selected rifles and air rifle forestocks with any suitable Arca compatible tripod head, such as the Alta BH-300 ball head.
To attach your rifle to the adaptor, simply place the Picatinny rail in the top clamp and close the rapid action level lock. The clamp grip can be adjusted for the optimal grip on your rifle using the 3mm Allen key provided. If your rifle doesn’t have a Picatinny rail system, you can use the Endeavor Picatinny Rail (not included) which attaches to the sling stud.
Please note that you may need to remove the safety pins on the base of the adaptor using the 2.5mm Allen key provided to use it an some Arca compatible tripod heads, any quick release plate, or directly onto a tripod/monopod.
You could also attach it directly to a tripod with a suitable 1/4" thread, but we wouldn’t recommend this as you can’t adjust the aim easily.
The Endeavor GM-70 is a clamp that is CNC machined from aluminium and designed to cope with high calibre rifles. With a clamp that opens from 3cm to 7cm, it is designed to fit a wide range of rifles.
As this is a solid clamp that is designed for high calibre rifles, we recommend only using with more solid tripods, and Arca compatible heads like the Alta BH-300. If you do not have an Arca compatible tripod head, then we would recommend a longer quick release plate to maximise contact with the base of the Endeavor GM-70.
The Endeavor GM-70 also has a 1/4” and 3/8” thread in the base so it will connect directly to any tripod, but it will limit the movement if you tighten the clamp, unless you have a levelling system built into the tripod, such as on the Alta Pro 3VL Series (with built in levelling system) or the Alta Pro 3VRL Series (with removable levelling system)
As a shooter, you may also want to hold your binoculars on a tripod to keep your hands free, and the VEO BA-185 ARCA is a lightweight adaptor with a choice of Arca compatible base or 1/4” thread.
If you have an Arca compatible head you can use the adaptor in the clamp, and if not use the 1/4” thread to attach it to a suitable quick release plate. You could also attach it directly to a tripod with a suitable thread, but we wouldn’t recommend this as you can’t adjust the aim easily.
If you don’t have an Arca compatible head, then you could choose the VEO BA-185. This is a little heavier and doesn’t have the Arca compatible base, but it saves a little money.
So why not have a browse and see if any of these will help you get on target with ease?
