If you need to keep your binoculars steady over extended periods, for example at night or in a hide, the chances are that you’ll benefit from attaching them to a tripod.
To do this, most adaptors like the VEO BA-185 need to be attached to the quick release plate of your tripod head.
If you use your tripod for photography, the chances are your quick release plate is already in use, which means you have to keep swapping between your camera and binocular adaptor, or buy another quick release plate that can cost the same as the adaptor!
As few adaptors or quick release plates have the non-twist spring pin function, the adaptor can unscrew and loosen while you’re using the binoculars.
To address these issues, meet the VEO BA-185 ARCA which has an Arca compatible foot that can fit directly into the clamp of almost any Arca compatible tripod head without the need for a quick release plate. This guarantees a solid grip and that your binoculars will always be facing the direction of your tripod head.
If you don’t have an Arca compatible head, the VEO BA-185 ARCA includes the 1/4” thread hole and a slot for a non-twist spring pin, though whether this will be of use will depend on your quick release plate.
To attach to the VEO BA-185 ARCA to your binoculars there is a 1/4" thread, with a thin bridge will allow it to fit all, but the narrowest of binoculars. This can be tightened or loosened with the oversized locking knob that is easy to use in cold or wet conditions, even wearing gloves. The locking knob can also be pulled out to tighten on larger binoculars with objective lenses that protrude out well beyond the 1/4" thread.
The VEO BA-185 ARCA is manufactured with high quality aluminium that has been machined using the latest computer numerical control (CNC) technology, allowing Vanguard to remove excess aluminium to minimise weight without compromising on it’s solidity, and it comes in at just 73g (almost 20% lighter than the original VEO BA-185).
All the aluminium that is removed through the CNC manufacturing process is then saved and recycled to minimise waste.
