As a professional landscape and nature photographer, reliable equipment is crucial in ensuring that I can consistently catch those magical fleeting moments in time.

This includes ancillary equipment such as a tripod.

My 3-legged friend is essential for creating sharp images where small apertures between f8 to f16 in conjunction with the use of filters reduces my exposure time considerably, in a variety of weather conditions.

I have recently started to provide photography workshops and tours at various locations across the UK and beyond. This involves a considerable amount of travel and due to luggage restrictions, I was looking for a suitable tripod which would be reliable, yet compact enough to fit inside my suitcase.

Introducing the Vanguard VEO 3T+ 264CB with a multi angle central column travel tripod.

After much research based on my needs, I decided to opt for the VEO 3T+ travel tripod which to date has met my needs whilst exceeding my expectations.

The tripod is not the smallest or lightest travel tripod available in the marketplace today but it is a fantastic piece of kit to consider for those looking for an affordable travel solution.

Made from carbon fibre, the tripod has a 15kg load capacity via an arca-compatible dual axis ballhead – perfectly suited for L-bracket use.

The tripod extends to a height of 156cm, yet folds down to an impressive 48cm in length with a total weight of 2.275kg , it fits perfectly in my suitcase without taking up an excessive amount of space or weight allowance.

A smart carrying bag and optional spiked feet are included with the tripod making this a versatile option for any outdoor photography – items that usually incur additional expense from other manufacturers.

I have used this tripod in various conditions to date – ranging from gale force winds in Iceland, sub-zero temperatures in Norway to the wet inclement climate found in Scotland, with excellent results. The weight and stability offered by the tripod excel its price point when compared to other more expensive tripods available today.

 Added functionality includes: -

  • The ability to convert to a monopod up to 1.6m in height
  • The multi angle central column allows 360° movement in any direction.
  • The rapid set, easy clean twist locks on the tripod legs only require ½ a turn allowing them to be deployed in seconds whilst easily dismantled for cleaning to maximise the life of the equipment regardless of the conditions it is used in – great for removing sand and salt following seascape photography.

This tripod offers an affordable option for those seeking a well manufactured, robust and reliable tripod, where travel is a key factor.

This tripod has become a key piece of my photography equipment and will be joining me on my travels across Scotland and overseas for many years to come – safe in the knowledge that my requirements are met and exceeded.

If you are looking for a versatile, reliable and robust tripod which incorporates great functionality whilst being compact and lightweight for travel, I would highly recommend that you consider this excellent piece of kit from Vanguard.
