This is a 2-pack of the 3/8" to 1/4" adaptors which includes a 1.25mm lip at the base.

These adaptors include a 1.25mm lip that fits into the a space built into either the tripod, or the tripod head, as shown in the last image. This is pretty standard, but if your tripod or tripod head does not have this depression, then this adaptor will not be suitable and you will need the version with no lip.
There are two thread sizes that have become industry standard for connecting tripods and tripod heads, and a range of other accessories. The smaller is the 1/4" thread which tends to be used for smaller travel tripods and heads, but can also be used for a good range of full sized tripods. The larger is the 3/8" thread which tends to be used for larger tripods.
If your tripod has a 1/4" thread and your head (or accessory) has a 3/8" thread then you will need an adaptor like this to connect the two.
Most credible tripod head brands will include these as standard, but they are also easily lost. This is a spare 2-pack of adaptors that are 0.8mm long and include a 1.25mm lip that fits into the a space built into either the tripod, or the tripod head, as shown in the last image.
