What kit do you need
There are many camera bags that can carry your camera and lenses, but the to be self-sufficient on a summit requires a different level of personal kit to a visit to the local park.
Level of protection
Most camera bags will have suitable everyday protection, but you want to ensure that the materials are as weatherproof and rip proof as possible on more remote trips (and includes a rain cover).
Comfort
A good harness system with a comfortable waist strap, cinch clips to draw the bag in at the shoulders, a good tripod holder and a comfortable airflow system will all help make the hike as comfortable as possible.
Versatility
You may just want the bag as a camera bag, but you may also want to be able to use it as an everyday backpack. Just something to think of whey you're making your decision.

ALTA SKY BACKPACKS
Long lenses are critical for certain types of photography, such as sports or wildlife, and the Alta Sky Series has models designed specifically for these lenses.
Each has a section specifically designed for up to a 600mm, or up to an 800mm lens fitted to your camera.
Each has easy top access to your camera and lens.
Each is designed to carry a full sized tripod on the rear for optimal balance.
Three of the models can carry additional lenses alongside the larger lens, to ensure you don's miss an opportunity because you only have the large lens.
All of the models have a comfortable harness system to minimise stress.
There are also more traditional style models within the Alta Sky Series. There are designed for larger kits, but not specifically for the longer lenses
VEO ACTIVE BACKPACKS
If you have different kit setups, you can buy a separate insert so you don't have to reconfigure your VEO Active for every trip. Simply remove and add the replacement insert, leaving your spare kit safely protected at home.
